Sanjiv Bhatt Biography

Sanjiv Bhatt is a former Indian Police Service officer who joined the police force in 1988 from Gujarat Cadre. He arrested 150 people in Jamnagar district amidst the riots in 1990 when he was an Additional Superintendent of Police. An FIR was registered against Sanjiv and 6 other policemen because a detained died due to kidney failure a few days later following his detention. and his brother alleged that Prabhudas died due to extreme torture in police custody. When the 2002 Gujarat incident occurred Sanjiv was Deputy Commissioner of Intelligence in the State Intelligence Bureau at Gandhinagar, and he was also charged for the security of the then chief minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi. In this incident, Godhra Train Burned in Hindu-Muslim riots and thousands of people died. Sanjiv Bhatt played a vital role to file an affidavit against Narendra Modi and he stated that in a meeting Modi Openly asked the police force to let the Hindus take their revenge against the Muslims. after that Supreme Court of India make a special investigating team and found that Sanjiv was lying he did not attend any such meeting and dismissed his allegations.

In 2003 Sanjiv Appointed Jail Superintendent but after 2 months of his appointment, he transferred because he was very friendly with the prisoners and he introduced “Gajar ka Halwa” in jail menu after his transfer 4000 prisoners protest. There is many pending criminal cases against Sanjiv and eh remained the post of SP for a decade without any promotions, while his all colleagues were promoted to the rank of Inspector General of Police by 2007. He refused an award that was presented by the Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar Academy in 2011. Bhat was arrested in a 22-year-old case for planting drugs to arrest Sumershingh Rajpurohit from Rajasthan.
